Our
Note To You ~
Dear Concord Road Families:
The 100th Day of
school will be February 15, 2008 (pending any snow days). For the past
few years, on the 100th Day of School, the 2nd Grade has made 100 care
packages to send to our troops overseas. Last year we collected over
3000 items and received many letters/emails from grateful soldiers.
This year Kindergarten and grades 1 & 3 will make care packages
as well. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be collecting items
to make 400 care packages to send to our troops (each grade will make
100 care packages). Attached is a list of supplies we will be asking
each class to send in as well as other items that the soldiers would
appreciate. Travel size or individually wrapped snacks would be perfect.
Of course, as with all charitable activities, you need not feel obligated
to participate with a financial contribution. We will also be asking
each student to make a card, write a letter or draw a picture as part
of a homework assignment the week before the 100th day. Anything you
want to send in would be greatly appreciated.
Throughout the week of February 11th, the children will sort, count
and distribute the donated items. The Westchester Division of Operation
Support Our Troops will pay to ship the boxes for us. If you would
like to be a part of a Care Package Committee (10 - 15 parents needed
to help sort/distribute items, get packages ready for shipping &
take them to the post office) or if you have any questions please contact
Jill Rogovic (2nd Grade) at RogovicJ@ardsleyschools.org.
Please check back for more information, lists & updates.
We appreciate your support with this project! Thanks
