Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Peterson

Having previously spent nine years working for New York City Public Schools, I began working in Ardsley in the fall of 2002.  My experience as a classroom teacher includes kindergarten, grade one, grade two, grade three, grade four, grade six, and grade seven. However, the majority of my teaching has been working with fourth grade students. In addition, to classroom instruction, my professional experiences are rich and varied. I have worked as a new teacher mentor, written and implemented curriculum in all content areas, and consistently attended training to strengthen and develop my skills as an educator.

My love for teaching is accompanied by my love for learning. My educational philosophy is based on teaching my students to be life-long learners. I believe that a classroom teacher is a facilitator, whose purpose is to model and support students in developing their own tools for learning. A cornerstone of my philosophy is to individualize instruction for my students to better meet their unique needs. Additionally, I encourage students to assess their own learning and set goals for themselves. And finally, I believe that all students should have fun while they learn!
