English 11 is a survey of American Literature.  We will study various forms of literature, including essays, short stories, novels, plays, and poetry.  Writing, in several styles, will be an integral part of your coursework.  The goal of this course is to develop an understanding of the different genres of literature and writing indigenous to American Culture.  In addition to the literature and writing components, we will spend time on preparation for the New York State Common Core Exam, which will be given in June.  This exam will count as the final exam grade.  Students are also responsible for a Research paper in the third/fourth quarter.
