In fourth grade general music class we sing, play instruments, move, listen, and work together to create and understand music. We sing the notes do to do with solfege hand signs, we perform simple melodies, ostinatos, parts, and rounds, we read simple treble clef music notation to sing and play rhythmic and tonal patterns, we improvise. We work with canons and song forms, and learn march and symphonic forms. We perform and conduct in 2/4, 3/4, and 4/4. We identify and classify voices and instruments we hear. We focus on American music history, shadowing classroom studies. We dance, we play games, we watch musicians perform.
