• Latin 2 Honors

The cultural topics of Level II emphasize the history of Rome from its founding to the early days of the empire and the exploits and accomplishments of famous Roman heroes and statesmen. Students will read the exact Latin text of 6 Roman authors throughout the year whose themes and styles are still quite apropos to modern times: Ovid, Horace, Catullus, Cicero, Caesar and Vergil. Students will not only be enhancing their knowledge of the Latin language but also of the English language as they will analyze and employ a number of the stylistic aspects of the authors in their own writing. Latin Grammar study extends to more complex linguistic structures focused around five main grammar topics known as "The Big 5": Ablative Absolute, Indirect Statement, Subjunctive Clauses, Conditional Statements and Indicative Word Subjunctive Statements.
