Writer’s Workshop- Students participate in a whole classwriting lesson and then return to their table for independent writing.
Guided Writing/Small Group instruction- Students engage in independent writing during writer’s workshop, content studies, or a choice writing time. Teachers work with small groups of students to scaffold their knowledge of writing and concepts of print. Teachers model writing behaviors to help students learn next steps in their writing strategies.
Shared Writing/Interactive Writing- Students participate in shared writing experiences with their teacher and peers. Often students will “share the pen” and will be called up to help create labels for the classroom, class made books, signs, invitations to celebrations, and more.
