BOE Poised to Add Student Representative

BOE Poised to Add Student Representative

A new state law is set to take effect adding an ex-officio (non-voting) student representative to the Board of Education starting with the 2025-26 school year.  At its upcoming meeting on April 8, the Board of Education anticipates taking final action on a policy describing the qualifications, selection process, and responsibilities of this new student representative.

The Board discussed a first draft of this policy at its March 18 meeting.  If adopted, the policy would add one Ardsley High School senior each year as a non-voting representative on the Board of Education.  The student representative would be chosen through an election by the entire AHS student body each spring and would attend all public Board meetings during the school year to provide a unique perspective on how Board policies and actions affect students.
