Support Services

Special education refers to a range of services that can be provided in different ways and in different settings.

There’s no “one size fits all” approach to special education. It’s tailored to meet the needs of students with disabilities (SWD). Districts are obligated to provide FAPE - Free Appropriate Public Education to SWD.

The disability must prevent the student from benefiting from their education.

  • Programs and Related Services are described in an Individualized Education Program (“IEP”) that is designed to meet the student’s unique needs based on their disability.

  • Special Education Programs are classes that are supported by special education teachers in a variety of settings.

  • Related Services are additional supportive services to assist SWD to benefit from special education.

Prospective Parent/Guardian Information

We offer a continuum of special education services as prescribed by the New York State Education Department. We are unable to have conversations about placement and programs without a formal Committee on Special Education (CSE) meeting. If you move into the district, we will schedule a CSE meeting to review your child's specific needs and options regarding appropriate placement and programs.
