At the November 14, 2023 Board of Education meeting, Dr. Ryan Schoenfeld formally announced his retirement as superintendent of the Ardsley School District, effective upon the conclusion of the 2023-24 school year.
During his nearly six-year tenure as superintendent, Dr. Schoenfeld has led the Ardsley School District through several important changes and challenges. Most notably, he led our efforts to create and implement a multi-year strategic plan for the district. He also navigated the district through the COVID pandemic with steadiness and stability. He brought together our curriculum leaders and faculty to implement key initiatives, including a redesigned math curriculum and an expanded world language program. In addition, Dr. Schoenfeld engaged our community to create a more equitable and inclusive school environment, including adding new holidays to the school calendar that reflect our growing diversity. And he supported improvements to our district facilities, including enhancing air quality in classrooms and installing solar panels to reduce our carbon footprint.
In the coming days, the Board of Education will commence the process of finding our next superintendent. As we do so, we are particularly mindful of the weight this decision will carry for our entire learning community, as well as the importance of conducting a transparent and inclusive process that incorporates input from a diverse group of stakeholders. In addition to sharing updates during our public Board meetings, we have created this dedicated page on the district website where the community can find the latest information about the search process and our progress. Dr. Schoenfeld and the rest of our administrative leadership team will continue to support our students and learning community as we undertake this transition.
