New York State defines the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) as legislation that seeks to provide the State’s public school students with a safe and supportive environment free from discrimination, intimidation, taunting, harassment, and bullying on school property, a school bus and/or at a school function.
Practically, this means that if you think that you are the victim of harassment, discrimination, or bullying, either from a staff member or another student, you should talk to the dignity act coordinator. At AHS, that is Mr. Hirsch, the Assistant Principal. He will conduct an investigation and will do whatever is necessary to protect you from harassment, discrimination, and/or bullying.
