"To teach is to touch a life forever."
I have had the good fortune to be teaching for many years - over 20 years here in Ardsley! - and while I hope I effectively touched students' lives, I KNOW that I have been positively touched by them. As a special education teacher who has worked with multiple ages, grade levels, and disabilities, I recognize the need to teach the "whole child" and meet children where they are, identifying their strengths and remediating their weaknesses. It is important to identify ways children learn best and take teaching approaches that utilize these, as well as exposing students to new methods and techniques.
My experience includes a variety of settings: self-contained classes, pull-out programs, push-in programs, resource room, and co-taught classrooms. Together with the teaching and related service staff, I work to support children in the classroom, differentiating instruction, as needed. Our classroom family works closely with you, the home family, to help students generalize what they are leaning and to foster the 'home-school connection.' Learning should be fun and all efforts are made to find fun, and meaningful ways for students to engage in the learning process.
I am looking forward to a fun-filled, productive school year with my students and their families!
